Another Excellent Week!!!
Welcome to one and all to KPR'S results..
So many familiar faces were seen this week, good to see so many of you returning for the adrenalin packed night. Again it was quite a busy evening with a lot of the racers arriving early to sign on. The race night had a hint of wet weather in the background but to no avail it passed over without a hitch. Friday nights have been quite busy this year, one and all have been very accomplished and learning a lot about the art of clean racing. With Stacey our happy race marshal ready to kick our events off for the evening, this off to practice we go.
Practice Group A's briefing is a crucial part of every event because karting is considered dangerous. But with our trained staff all events are very safe. All our racers are seated and fired up for the battle, with a few familiar faces returning to compete. The best time set for this group was Rocket Road with Justin McGilvery following close at his heels and a well earned third quickest to Adam Sanderson. Well Done! With all racers happy with their progress for this warm up event times were sure to fall during the evening.
Race 1 Group A: The name of the game is consistency and heat one was quite brutal to a few racers with untimely ends met a little early in the event.
With eight laps down, and a clean set of heals was Rocket 57.16 sec. was first to return with the glory. Mark Howell was a very close second a firm time here of 57.70 and chasing close behind was Drew Russell 57.10sec. With poor old Justin Mcgilvery finding a little traffic during the event, but holding the record for this race 56.95 sec, quite a mean feat and very well done. Also a quick mention to the ladies that join our group of racers, its great to see the girls mixing it with the boys showing they are just a little conversation starter for the weekend, having knowledge that you kicked the boys butts.
Race 2 Group A: With a switch of places to make it more of a challenge, randomly chosen by the computer of course. With Justin a little bummed by the first race results it was time for him to show a little more class with a race win 57.23 sec. All of the first six competitors were covered by a second within their best lap times. Great Work! It was quite an achievement for some within this group to attain this level, with a little more practice you to can score some times like this. Second place went to Nick Sanderson 57.66 sec, Good to see you racing again Nick. And coming in third with a very clean time was Drew Russell 57.38 sec. Great to see some new faces mixing it with the regulars showing the times needed to win are achievable, and with a little race knowledge we will see a few changes at the top of the pack over the coming weeks.
Race 3 Group A: It's all or nothing in this one time for the final heat. On the point of our ladies racers, good to see Sam Larsen improving substantially her times dropping from 1.17 sec to 1.03 sec in the final heat. Go the Ladies!!!! The race went all to schedule for Adam Muir with a healthy win and a 57.31 sec best lap. Second place went to Justin McGilvery 57.75 sec. Good work, keep it up. Third place went to Rocket 57.02 sec maybe next time it'll be a better result.
Group A Results
1st place - Justin McGilvery 142 pts
2nd place - Rocket Rod 136pts
3rd place - Drew Russell 136pts
Practice Group B: With everyone ready to roll, seated and fired up time to show each other a little adrenalin. With this group being just as competitive as Group A and showing all the confidence of fully fledged racers the times were very respectable. With everyone coming home safe and sound this run, time for things to get serious with race 1.
Race 1 all ready again to rub panels and drive to their extreme limits, seeing a few black flags during the event just to set a few drivers straight. Best by far with this group in race 1 was Scotty Foster 57.27 sec. Well done, hope to see you in group A this week. Second place with his pedal to the floor chasing the leader down was Luke Bain 57.88 sec. With Luke progressing well in the ranks here at KPR he will soon be up with the best of the best! Holding his own out on the track, showing he to can, managed to make it to the podium. So many faces laughing and joking after the event, great to watch as all chat about near misses and how they cracked it to the top.
Race 2 was going to be tough with the places mixed for the start, as it makes the night a little more challenging for all. The challenges came hard and fast from mid pack, a lot of regulars charging for the flag. Coming in first place and showing the group once again he may be a force to be battled with, doesn't give in was Michael Foster 58.75 sec. This father and son team race hard and are a pleasure to watch out on the track. It's quite obvious that dad still has a few acres up his sleeve. But it's a very steep learning curve while amongst traffic, just ask the other drivers competing. Second place went to Luke Bain 58.92 sec. Seeing many returning for the challenge was very rewarding to watch from a spectator's point of view. Third on the podium was a new face this week. Michael Daniell 59.68 sec
Race 3 the final installment was to be a race some wish to forget about, with many spills and near misses again. The enthusiasm was all over this group, showing the closeness of racing is a great rush. First position went to a great racer Luke Bain 59.12 sec. Coming through as clean as a whistle. Next to bring home the goodies in second place was Brandon Green 59.37 sec, and tracking down a neat podium placing third this race was Scotty Foster 58.62 sec, topping the times again.
Group B Results
1st place - Leon Exell 140 pts
2nd place - Brad Hilder 140 pts
3rd place - Chris Hannah 136 pts
Just remember the start is an important part of any race, fumble it and it will make life a little hard, Also the procedure for a quick and clean start, is to stay at an even pace behind the roll up kart till he pulls off the track. Once the light changes to green foot flat to achieve a required position remembering the first corner is a killer if not approached with care. From here all should be taken with a level head.
Thanks to all who competed again. It was a "hell of a night out". Look forward to seeing many smiling faces again. A few grudges held from this week, I'm sure you will be back for more close heats between friends. And to our valued race patrons watching hope you enjoyed the evening. Maybe we will see you lining up for the challenge this Friday night!!!!
WELL DONE TO ALL WHO COMPETED !!!!
